Harvesting

  • Time: 7-9 MAP (April-May). Main season of harvesting is April –May
  • Leaves dried and get withered. Complete yellowing & drying up of the plants.
  • Above ground plant parts are cut close to the field irrigated
  • Light irrigation should be given one day before harvesting.
  • Harvesting should be done by digging/ ploughing without causing damage to the rhizomes. The rhizomes are gathered by hand picking.
  • They are cleaned by removing the roots and adhering soil.
  • Finally, rhizomes are washed and mother are separated from fingers before they are cured.
