Fertilizer Management

  • Application of farmyard manure to an extent of 8-10 tonne/acre is desirable for final ploughing.

  • Micronutrient mixtures can also be sprayed to boost the crop growth and to manage the deficiencies.
  • Fertilizer requirements may vary from region to region. So, it is advisable to apply the fertilizers based on the soil test recommendations.

FOLIAR NUTRIENT SPRAYS

  • Micronutrient sprays should be done @ 3-5g/litre for 2-3 times once in every 10-15 days after 45 days of transplanting and number of sprays can be increased based on the crop duration.
  • Foliar nutrition with 19:19:19, potassium sulphate @ 5g/L, during the fruit development stage for every 10-15 days interval will help in developing fruit size and quality.
  • Calcium nitrate @5 g/L should be sprayed instead of calcium nitrate at 10-15 day intervals from 60 days after planting until fruit harvesting.
  • Ensure not mixing of calcium with 19:19:19 or any phosphorus containing nutrients to avoid incompatibility.
