Main field Preparation (+10, +24 DAS, Duration: 15 days)

  • • After wheat harvesting, do deep ploughing (30–35 cm) during summer to break hard pan and improve soil aeration.
    • Give 1 additional ploughing during summer to control weeds and conserve soil moisture.
    • Before transplanting, level the field using laser land leveller to save irrigation water and ensure uniform crop growth.
    • Apply pre-sowing irrigation and puddle the field 2 times with puddler/rotavator for fine and soft soil.
    • Proper puddling reduces percolation losses and improves seedling establishment.
    • Incorporate dhaincha/cowpea/sunnhemp green manure crop 1 day before transplanting to improve soil fertility.
    • Continuous incorporation of rice straw/FYM improves soil organic carbon and crop yield.
    • Maintain 5–7 cm standing water during puddling for better soil preparation.
