• Identification: Water-soaked necrotic lesions followed by dark brown banding on basal leaf sheaths and lower leaves.
• Management: Remove the lowest two infected leaves along with the sheath. Spray Validamycin 3L @ 400 mL/acre in 200 litres of water or Mancozeb 75 WP @ 800 g/acre immediately after symptoms appear; repeat after 10 days if needed.
