Symptoms:

These are very small and dark brown insects feeding on stigma inside the flower.

The flower falls before opening and there is an elongation of the terminal shoots.

In severe conditions plant shows bushy and dark green in colour, bearing few pods with shrivelled grains.

Prevention:

Irrigate the field with regular interval of 15 days results in low build-up of thrips.

Spray dimethoate 30 EC + flubendiamide 20%WG @ 120ml/acre to crop at bud initiation stage to reduce the damage.
