Powdery mildew

  • Symptoms:
  • The disease first appears as white powdery patches on both sides of the leaves, as well as on the other green parts of the plant, such as tendrils, pods and stem.
  • Later, these white floury patches consisting the mycelium and conidial mass of the fungus cover large area of the plant.
  • Sometimes the necrosis and browning of affected tissues is also seen
  • Prevention:
  • As soon as the disease symptoms appear spray wettable sulphur at the rate of 0.3% or carbendazim 50% WP @0.5g/ litre of water for controlling the disease. The spray may be repeated after 10-15 days, if required.
